Three days of initiatives for adults and children to discover the Parco dei Mulini, one of the green lungs of the Legnano area, between history and nature. From Friday 17th to Sunday 19th May – with recovery of the initiatives canceled on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June in case of rain – the Mill Daywhich this year will reach its 12th edition.

For those who want to learn more about the park and the world that revolves around it on foot or by bicycle, in addition to DIY routes and to theitinerary of memory among what remains of the lazarets of the five municipalities of the green lung, the program includes the bicycle ride “Let’s cycle. A bike ride in the PLIS Roccolo and Mulini”, which on Sunday 19 May, after meeting at 9am in Piazza Maggiolini in Parabiago and in the town hall park in via Marzorati in Nerviano, will take participants to discover the Roccolo Park among the paths, the Brughierezza woods and some farms, observing the diversity of crops; at the Oasis of peace and beauty in Parabiago the reading of “The tale of the five parks” written by the local teacher and writer of children’s books Roberto Morgese, followed by guided tour with a naturalist in the PLIS dei Mulini between wetlands and lamination tanksbetween the municipalities of Parabiago, S. Vittore Olona and Canegrate.

For those who prefer walking, there is a program there “Firefly”, an evening walk that will start on Saturday 18 May at 9.45pm from the observatory at Foppa di San Vittore Olona in via Gramsci and after having covered part of the route of the Olona Green Way observing the fireflies, it will arrive in via Madre Teresa di Calcutta, where there will be bedtime story in music. Sunday 19th we also walk with “The new wet areas of the Park” – meeting at 9.30 at the Oasis of peace and beauty of Parabiago -, a guided tour with the naturalist to the two new wetlands of the park and the lamination tanks along the Olona Green Way with the possibility of trying the Nordic walking technique. Guided walk also on Saturday 18th with “Pray and work. From the Cistercian abbey to the country church of the Madonna di Dio’l Sà”which after meeting at 3pm at the church of the Madonna di Dio ‘l Sà will take the participants to discover the national monuments Church of S. Ambrogio della Vittoria And Church of the Madonna di Dio’l Sà.

Mulino Day also offers a rich range of guided tours: starting from the Legnano Castle, where the exhibition “Silence becomes voice” on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Don Lorenzo Milani, with an exhibition of the works created for the occasion by the pupils of the primary schools of Legnano, and throughout the weekend from 10am to 12.30pm and from 3pm to 7pm the exhibition dedicated to the triptych on the battle of Legnano by the painter Gaetano Previati.

Guided tours also at Church of Santo Stefano in San Vittore Olona on Sunday 19th from 2pm to 7pm, while at the Spazio Zero Zero in via Valloggia, near the Mulino Meraviglia from 9am to 6.30pm there will be “games of yesteryear” with vintage and non-vintage games, made of wood, for children and at Foppa is on the program “Bioblitz Lombardy”: from 9 to 10 the appointment is with birdwatching with binoculars and telescopes in search of small animals of the microworld, and from 10 to 12 with a walk in the surrounding area to discover the animals.

They will be there at the Bosco Antico in via Toti in Canegrate on Sunday 19th yoga and meditation courses with refreshmentswhile at the Feste alle Cascinette area there will be from 1pm to 2pm a picnic followed from 2pm to 4pm by environmental themed workshops for children. Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th from 4pm to 6pm you can also visit the Church of Sant’Ambrogio della Vittoria in Parabiago, where it will also be possible to visit the photographic exhibition “Elvio’s doors” and at 5pm there will also be reading “The symbolism of flowers tells of the Marian virtues”.

At the Carla Musazzi Museum in Villa Corvini in Parabiago on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th from 2.30pm to 5.30pm there will be the exhibition “In the shape of nature. The Mills Park at the Carla Musazzi Museum”with drawings, paintings and sculptures representing mills, animals and flowers that characterize the Mulini Park created by the children of the workshop for disabled artists “A world of colors without limits” and by the social promotion association “Il Gelso”. Guided visits also to the Church of Saints Gervaso and Protaso in Parabiago on Sunday 19th from 4pm to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Dio ‘l Sà and its Lazzaretto on the border between Nerviano and Parabiago, which will be open on Saturday 18th from 2.30pm to 5pm and Sunday 19th from 9.30am to 12.30pm with the possibility of seeing the exhibition of children’s drawings of the VB class of the Manzoni primary school in Parabiago, with guided tours at 3pm for those taking part in the “Ora et labora” walk and at 4pm and 10am respectively.

The opening of the visits closes the list of visits Colorina Church and Lazzaretto Church in Nerviano from 9am to 12pm, while at the Mulino Star Quà in Nerviano on Sunday 19th from 10.30am to 5pm there will be guided tours of the historic mill, horseback riding for children, readings and games on the lawnlive music with the Quatter Malnatt and the great risotto with “Riso del Castello” and in the picnic area at the Serbelloni fountain in Pregnana Milanese from 10am to 6.30pm there will be “PLIS party. Mill day”.

The Mill Day will also bring with it the “concerts” of animals, from birds to frogs, toads and birds of prey and proposals for those who love reading, who will find a table at the Oasis of peace and beauty of Parabiago a book house with the park’s publications – made with the large oak tree that fell due to last summer’s storm – and will be able to find a place in the greenery or directly in an armchair at home to read one of the books from the digital library or look at historical maps to understand what the park was like in the past . The range of initiatives ends with proposals for gourmets, who will be able to buy and taste local products ranging from milk to seasonal vegetables, from eggs to organic cheeses, through honey, cereals and fresh and ready-made biscuits and snails.
