Record numbers and a special year for Stelle nelle Sport which celebrates its silver wedding with Sport Ligure. A quarter of a century at the service of athletes, technicians and managers, clubs, federations, disciplines and sports bodies, students, teachers and social realities of the territory with the support of the Liguria Region and the Municipality of Genoa, with the institutional patronage of the Carige Foundation, Camera of Commerce and Porto Antico of Genoa, under the aegis of Sport and Health, Coni Liguria and CIP. A year full of initiatives, included in the calendar of “Genoa 2024 European Capital of Sport”.
THE BEAUTY OF SPORT – May is an important month, with the closure of school projects. There are 10,317 students involved, from over 110 schools across Liguria, as part of the eighth edition of the “Il Bello dello Sport” school competition, a project sponsored by USR Liguria and created in partnership with Orientamenti School. On Saturday 25 May, at 11am under the tent in Piazza delle Feste, the 75 winning students of “Il Bello dello Sport” will be rewarded with a medal and numerous gadgets, at the same time as the IC Pegli Primary School and the IC Lower Secondary School. Terralba who, having participated with the greatest number of entries, will receive two bonuses worth 300 euros each for transport services provided by Genovarent.
SCHOOL AND SPORT – Numbers that rise significantly if we consider the matches of the “Una Classe di Valori” format, held together with the stars Francesco Bocciardo (Genoese Swimmers-Fiamme Oro), Niccolò Figari (Iren Genova Quinto), Paola Fraschini (Sturla Skating) , Edoardo Stochino (Genova Nuoto-My Sport), Giacomo Costa (Rowing Club Genovese) and Michela Braga (Rossetto Boxe), the meetings of the sport and food format “Più Gusto della Vita” organized in collaboration with Villa Montallegro and of the format “Il Mercato fa Scuola” with Lions Club Porto Antico and SGM together with the stars Lorenzo Bottaro (Colombo Genova Volley), Marco Campanile and Beatrice Serra (USS Dario Gonzatti) and Ester Fontana (Genova Nuoto). Worthy of note is the great success of “Il Più Veloce della Città” at Villa Gentile, with organization by USR Liguria and Stelle Nello Sport in collaboration with Sport e Salute, Endas Liguria and FIDAL Liguria. The conclusion of the 2023/2024 school year of Stars in Sport will be truly special: at the Sports Festival, a School Olympics with over 2200 participants from 120 classes who will play and have fun within the 50 competition areas of the Porto Antico of Genoa created thanks to the collaboration of sports clubs and bodies.
PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD – Sport is also creativity. A concept expressed with greater force by Stars in Sport thanks to the 437 photographs of the “Nicali-Iren” Award. The participation of photographers and enthusiasts has never been so exciting, with the celebration of the values of competitive and grassroots sport in over fifty sports disciplines. During the Sports Festival, Saturday 25 May at 12 under the tent in Piazza delle Feste, the 20 photographers chosen by the public will be awarded, with the winners Chiara Alberti (739 votes), India Grassi Lucetti (620) and Claudia Torello (574) recipients respectively of a GNV trip, a 200 euro Genovarent bonus and an Easy Smartphone printer, and the 3 from the quality jury (Alessandro Aonzo, Eros Zanini and Sara Gioana) who based on the final ranking will receive an IrenGo electric scooter, a Decathlon voucher from 200 euros and a mix of Panarello products.
LIGURIAN ATHLETES OF THE YEAR – After the launch forum of the 25th year of Stars in Sport, at Palazzo Tursi on February 28th, in two months 241,102 votes arrived for the election of the Ligurian Athletes of the Year. An extraordinary “marathon” that crowns Albert Guðmundsson and Manuel De Luca (Rossoblucerchiati-Trofeo Eco Eridania), Andrea Fondelli (BIG Male-Trofeo BPER), Anita Corradino (BIG Female-Trofeo Villa Montallegro), Tommaso Mondello (Junior Male-Trofeo Cambiaso Risso), Caterina Congiu (Junior Female-PSA Italy Trophy), Andrea Marsella (Green-ERG Trophy) and Unione Sportivi Subacquei “Dario Gonzatti (Società-Novelli Trophy 1934). They will receive the Oscar of Ligurian sport next May 23rd (8.30 pm) as part of the 25th edition of the Gala of the Stars which will be celebrated at the Magazzini del Cotone del Porto Antico in Genoa. An evening of sport and entertainment dedicated as per tradition to the Gigi Ghirotti Foundation. Entrance is free. Ghirotti volunteers will collect donations and give guests a sweet Panarello gift (reservation required by email [email protected]).

STAR GALA – Guests of honor at the Oscar Night of Ligurian sport will be champions of the caliber of Margherita Granbassi, now a Rai television presenter after winning two bronzes in Beijing 2008 and three World Championships in foil, Andrea Lo Cicero, legend of Sport and Health and Italian rugby champion, Eraldo Pizzo, gold in Rome 1960 in water polo and winner of sixteen championships and a Champions Cup. Also in the room were Salvatore Sanzo (head of the Sport and Territories area of Sport and Health) and Paolo Azzi, national president of FederScherma. Exciting images and spectacular performances: the Groovies, a dance school active in training professional dancers, will open the evening with a special choreography. There will be no shortage of incursions by Bruciabaracche with Andrea Possa, Andrea Di Marco and Andrea Carlini. The 25th Gala of the Stars will be hosted by Michele Corti and Giorgia Cenni, Sky Sport correspondent.
ALL IN THE FIELD FOR GIGI GHIROTTI – The Gala will also be the preview of the twentieth Sports Festival, scheduled in the 130,000 square meters of the Porto Antico of Genoa from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th May with an extraordinary calendar of events and activities. Events that will also be united by the charitable mission in support of the Gigi Ghirotti ETS Foundation. To date, 35,000 euros have already been raised thanks to the proceeds of the charity auction on Memorabid, the first tickets of the Star Lottery and the special evening of 4 April at Palazzo Ducale with the screening of the docufilm “25 years of Stars in Sport” and the awarding of the “Gian Luigi Corti – A heart from the Lion” prize to Giovanni Malagò. A sum that allows us to exceed the mark of 500,000 euros raised from 2000 to today in support of the activities of the Foundation chaired by Prof. Franco Henriquet.
