REGGIO – The Fibromyalgia Association celebrates World Fibromyalgia Day

World Fibromyalgia Day is celebrated on Sunday 12 May. For the occasion, the Association Reggina Fibromialgia has organized an initiative in this regard, meeting at 10am on the purple bench of the Aragonese Castle.

In the evening, however, Palazzo San Giorgio will be lit up in purple, color symbol of Fibromyalgia, Palazzo San Giorgio «to demonstrate that – we read in a note – our city joins all the other cities in Italy, in favor of the recognition of this pathology by the Authorities regional health services. In this sense the two local authorities together with the Social Policies Council of of which the Reggina Association is part, are working towards the Calabria Region”.

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome characterized mainly by widespread musculoskeletal pain, which can be accompanied by chronic fatigue, mental confusion called (fibro fog) and with 100 symptoms.

Fibromyalgia affects over 2,000 people in Italy and all regions celebrate it World Fibromyalgia Day in collaboration with local associations.

Reggio Calabria has also accepted the invitation to participate in this day since 2018 making fibromyalgia people and their problems visible to the population, not yet recognized by the Calabria Region, to obtain the necessary care. (rrc)
