“Managing change to ensure continuity in the Club’s action” is the theme of the meeting organized by the Catanzaro Rotary Club and the Catanzaro Tre Colli Rotary Club, which had Vincenzo Vivarini, coach of Us Catanzaro 1929, as an exceptional speaker. Also present was the president of US Catanzaro 1929, the engineer Floriano Noto: both received the highest Rotary honor, named after the founder of Rotary, Paul Harris Fellow, for the important social function that the football team and the staff of the Society city football they play against the city of Catanzaro.

The event, reserved exclusively for members of Rotary clubs, was held on Tuesday 7 May at 6.30 pm in the headquarters of the Catanzaro Rotary Club. The presidents of the club organizing the event, Carlo Vincenzo Maletta, president of the Catanzaro Rotary Club, and Carlo Maria Comito, president of the Catanzaro Tre Colli Rotary Club, brought institutional greetings. “The social value of a football team goes beyond simple sport – he stated Carlo Vincenzo Maletta, president of the Catanzaro Rotary Club -. A sports club can positively influence the life and cohesion of a community, providing an opportunity for people to connect, share experiences and aspire to common goals. And that is what Us Catanzaro 1929, its president and its coach, are doing with important social consequences that contribute to strengthening the sense of belonging to the city. We believe that this growth path should be recognized and enhanced with the most important Rotary honors.”

“The pin we are delivering today is representative of our appreciation for the social work of Mister Vivarini and of Us Catanzaro – he explains the president of the Tre Colli Rotary Club, Carlo Maria Comito -. This is a symbolic moment for us: recognition goes to the people involved, but also to the spirit that animates football and its important social role within cities. We have observed over the years the fervor of the fans and its cultural impact, which has a significant influence on our community. Catanzaro, among other things, boasts one of the largest fans in Italy. Furthermore, football represents a valid hope for young people who approach this world, encouraging the right sporting values. We hope that these initiatives can create favorable conditions and attract young people to our city, helping to combat depopulation and preserving noble traditions”.

“In Catanzaro, the enthusiasm infects everyone: the visceral love for the team is evident in every area – he stated Mister Vivarini -. Personally, I was aware of this transport of the fans, but I was particularly affected by it over the course of the seasons that followed. This spirit is what I believe drove Rotary to recognize the team and the company. We have adopted a philosophy of maximum respect for our opponents even on the pitch, and we are the team with the fewest fouls in the championship. Our only goal is to play, without speculation or other ways to win. This is the spirit we share with the Rotary Club.”

“First of all, I would like to thank all the members of Rotary for awarding this recognition which is very important and coveted – he declared President Noto -. “I believe that this recognition goes beyond the sporting and management aspect of the business we have conducted in our 6-7 years of ownership. The invitation I address to everyone is to work with commitment and dedication, because results are achieved only through sacrifice, competence and by surrounding yourself with capable people. In sport, in particular, it is essential to involve young people, even those from the suburbs and the most disadvantaged areas of the territory. In short, sporting activity is an important tool for social inclusion and development, and we must never stop teaching and promoting it. Thanks again. The city is a special place, and I hope that we can all continue to contribute to its development and the well-being of the community,” concluded Noto.
