Protocol signed between Eastern Sicily Port Authority and Naval League


Palermo, 10 May. (Adnkronos) – Encourage and support the protection and safeguarding of the marine environment, health at sea, the practice of pleasure and nautical activities, develop educational, cultural, naturalistic and sporting projects and initiatives, facilitate the integration of local communities, transmit the principles of the ethics of the sea and the maritime spirit, contribute to the preservation of the historical memory of seafaring traditions: these are some of the objectives contained in the memorandum of understanding signed by the Port System Authority of the Eastern Sicilian Sea and the Italian Naval League Eastern Sicily. “We have started a mutual and effective collaboration – explained the president of the ADSP Francesco Di Sarcina – to carry out a series of projects and ideas, also through programs and agreements with other bodies, institutions and associations, involving as much as possible the territory he wants to love , knowing, living and respecting the sea, the greatest resource we have”.

The document was signed in the ADSP offices in the port of Catania in the presence of Rear Admiral Agatino Catania, LNI national delegate for eastern Sicily, who expressed full satisfaction with an agreement that represents a concrete example of virtuous synergy between cluster bodies maritime for the protection and culture of the sea: “We want to cooperate, in the public interest – he highlighted – in carrying out multiple activities that range from the environmental protection of the sea and inland waters to the promotion of aquatic and maritime sports, from the sharing of mutual know-how and experience in integrated communication towards citizens and schools. We share the same values ​​therefore all occasions such as conferences, cultural events, trade fairs and other projects, which we will carry out, will serve to convey to the community the beauty of the sea, its history, the peculiarities connected to it; particular attention will be paid to fragile and less well-off social categories”.

The Adsp will undertake to identify the collaboration tools that will allow the Sections and Delegations of the LNI, present in Eastern Sicily, to pursue their institutional goals according to the agreed initiatives, starting from the celebration of the “Sea Day” set every year on April 11th.
