In Pordenone, acts of vandalism are increasingly widespread, from the vandalized bench to the waste scattered in the park, from the damaged road sign to abandoned license plates on the street. There is also graffiti on the walls, broken bins and damaged bicycles. Although they may seem like small incidents, they come at a cost to the community and the municipality has to intervene every three days to repair the damage and clean up. This costs more than ten thousand euros a year, money that could be invested elsewhere.
The municipal Heritage Councilor, Giuseppe Verdichizzi, underlined that, although the situation is not as serious compared to other cities, these acts of vandalism are still unacceptable and disturbing. The Municipality’s maintenance service intervenes on average ten times a month to deal with these problems, which range from small damages to more serious ones.
