Security measures for the mentally ill: new challenges between law, psychiatry and practice

Salerno10 May 2024 – The conference entitled “Safety measures for the mentally ill: state of the art and new perspectives between law, psychiatric science and application practices”.

The event, organized by Apertis Verbis, SIMSPe., Giorgio Ambrosoli Salerno Association and Order of Doctors and Dentists of Salerno, with the patronage of the Bar Associations and Criminal Chambers of Salerno and Vallo della Lucania and of ASL Salerno, will address the complex legal and health issues related to the application of security measures to individuals with mental disorders who have committed crimes.

At the center of the debate is the need for regulatory updating, adequate health and social interventions, and an application practice that respects human rights and public safety.


Speakers and guests

The works will be introduced by the President of SIMSPe., Dr. Antonio Maria Pagano. Institutional greetings will follow, including those from Dr. Ornella Crespi, President of the Court of Appeal of Salerno, and representatives of the organizing and sponsoring bodies.

Prof. Francesco Schiaffo, Dr. Sara Giordano, Magistrates Rocco Alfano, Monica Amirante, Emma Conforti and Giuliano Rulli will speak on the topic. The works will be moderated by the lawyer. Luca Di Giacomo.

A speech of particular importance will be that of the lawyer. Irma Conti, member of the Board of the National Guarantor of the rights of persons deprived of personal liberty.
