Airport, first quarter with a plus sign

With approximately 1.5 million passengers in total transiting in the first quarter of the year, the Tuscan airport system marked a new record in passenger traffic with growth of +13.9% over the same period in 2023.

This is what emerges from the interim management report as of 31 March 2024, approved by the Board of Directors of Toscana Aeroporti, the company that manages the airports of Florence and Pisa.

The result, explains a note, is supported by the growth of +9.4% in total movements and +2.4 percentage points in the load factor of scheduled flights which reached 83.9% in the first quarter of 2024 Cargo traffic, with 3,115 tonnes of goods and mail transported, recorded a decline of 7.3% on the same period in 2023.

As regards Galilei airport, in the first quarter of the year the Pisan airport recorded growth of 4.3% compared to 2023, with 855 thousand passengers passing through. In the period the load factor of scheduled flights, equal to 86.8%, is growing by +2.8 percentage points over 2023 while the trend in total flight movements is decreasing by 0.8%. Italy, with 29% of total scheduled traffic, represents the first market for Pisa airport, followed by Spain (13.1% of total traffic), the United Kingdom (12.8%) and Albania (11.8%). Cargo traffic as of March 31, 2024, with 3,097 tons of goods and mail transported, was down by 6.7% compared to the same period in 2023.
