Regional FAI Youth Initiative from the Marche: in Cossignano in May with the PAN Project (Landscape, Art and Nature) – picenotime

The PAN Project, an acronym for “Paesaggio Arte Natura”, was inaugurated on Saturday 4 May: the initiative, which is part of the national campaign , is promoted by FAI Youth Groups from the Marchewho collaborated together to create a regional-scale project that celebrates the connection between Landscape, Art and Nature, promoting knowledge, protection and valorisation of the Marche hinterland and its heritage.

The FAI Giovani San Benedetto del Tronto group chose the village of Cossignano, where various events are planned for the entire month of May. The first is the exhibition “PAN, between myth and nature”, curated by the “Zanini Arte” gallery, which will remain open for every weekend in May, from 10.00am to 1.00pm and 3.00pm to 6.00pm, at Palazzo Fassitelli and the Church of Annunziata. At the center of the exhibition stands the figure of Pan, the Greek divinity of the woods, fields and pastures (but also the acronym of the entire exhibition), with the nineteenth-century painting “Pan and the nymph” by Émile Charles Dameron. There will also be works by six internationally renowned Italian contemporary artists, five painters: Alfonso Borghi, Andrea Vizzini, Antonio Nunziante, Marica Fasoli and Lamberto Melina; and a sculptor, Daniele Fortuna. Each artist interprets, with a unique sensitivity and very different artistic techniques (ranging from hyperrealism to chromatic materiality), classic characters through a contemporary filter, highlighting the intimate bond between humanity and the surrounding environment.

PAN’s second proposal is visits to local agricultural companies, divided into three weekends: starting on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May with the “Oil Weekend” and the visit to the “Poderi de Marte” company in Offida; Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May the “Bread Weekend”, with a visit to the “La Pagnotta” company of Cossignano; Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May the “Wine Weekend”, with visits to the “Cantine D’Ercoli” and “Fiorano Organic Wineries” companies. The visiting shifts, both on Saturdays and Sundays, are scheduled at 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 15.00 and 16.00.

Finally, on each Saturday in May, conferences will be held at 6.00 pm at the Church of the Annunziata: moments of dialogue and exchange of knowledge on key topics such as biodiversity, climate change, and the social and economic development of the Italian hinterland. It starts on Saturday 11 May with the conference “The landscape”, with speeches by prof. Luca Petrelli and Prof. Olimpia Gobbi; Saturday 18 May the theme will be “Biodiversity, with Dr. Ambra Micheletti and Federico Belloni; finally on Saturday 25 May “A look at the future”, with Alessandra Pellegrini, Vittorio Peretto and prof. Mariano Malavolta.

Entrance to the exhibition does not require reservations, while for visits and conferences, reservations are recommended while places are available (a contribution to the FAI will be requested on site). For timetables, info and reservations, consult the website bit.ly/progetto-pan.

The PAN events in Cossignano are the result of the collaboration between the FAI Giovani San Benedetto del Tronto Group, the “Zanini Arte” gallery of San Benedetto Po (MN), the municipality of Cossignano and the Colombo family, owners of Palazzo Fassitelli, a splendid residence history of the village. The initiative also benefits from the patronage of the Province of Ascoli Piceno and the Marche Region.

The PAN project is not limited to the Cossignano events: the FAI Giovani Macerata group will propose on Sunday 19 May “The echo of footsteps in nature: the flight of bees”, a day hosted by the VerSer winery of San Severino Marche (MC) , with the special participation of the beekeeper Emanuele Agrifoglio and the Bartoccioni Gian Palma agricultural company. The day will focus on the role of bees in the agricultural sector, the importance of honey in the diet and the role of the beekeeper, and will end with an aperitif with typical products.

Finally, the FAI Giovani Ancona group will propose on Saturday 25 May “Mount Frasassi and the Eagle path”, a walk along a circular route of approximately 7 km among woods, villages and spectacular views, with a hiking guide, to get to know in full one of the areas richest in biodiversity of the Gola della Rossa and Frasassi Regional Natural Park, starting at 9.00 from the Belvedere Sant’Angelo di Rosenga in the municipality of Genga (AN).
