Music, colors, a canvas that plays, a concert of those who knock… On May 17th, starting at 8pm, in Longiano, in Piazza Malatestiana, a performance promoted by District A of Faenza will be held. For the occasion it will be possible to admire the artistic creation of sound painting by Igor Scalisi Palminteri and Angelo Sicurella and with the concert of The Hormonauts who finally return to Romagna. The performance 300 grams by Igor Scalisi Palmitieri and Angelo Sicurella is the approximate weight of a human heart. Each brush stroke on the canvas is organised, filtered and manipulated with a real-time sound sampler and synthesized by sound effects, forming a painting that becomes both visual and sound fabric. The painted canvas will be exhibited in the rooms of the Tito Balestra Foundation in Longiano until it is auctioned for charity in favor of flood victims. It is called sound painting because it is a painting that sounds: each passage of Igor on the canvas produces a sound that is sampled live, filtered and manipulated by Angelo in real time and processed through sound effects. Together, they create a picture that becomes visual and sound fabric. An extemporaneous construction of image and music, absolutely synchronous, in which sound cannot do without the pictorial gesture and vice versa. Igor Scalisi Palminteri was born in Palermo in 1973. At the age of 20 he joined the order of Capuchin friars and spent 7 years with them. Graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, he has exhibited in numerous personal and collective exhibitions, in Italy and abroad. A constant element in all of his production is that of sacredness and saints. A revised, distorted and even ambiguous sense of the sacred is omnipresent in the artist’s poetics. If on the one hand he represents the saints as simple human beings, on the other he reappropriates some icons, reworking them without ever depriving them of their sacredness, but using them as a starting point for an investigation into human nature and his identity . He has led several visual arts workshops aimed at girls and boys, often at risk of social exclusion, collaborating with educational institutions and social services. Since 2018 he has chosen to dedicate himself almost exclusively to street interventions, where he works by communicating with the inhabitants and trying to spread a sense of community and care through art. His works have a value that goes beyond aesthetics, and sometimes become the heritage of the places in which they are found. The Hormonauts, on the other hand, were born in 1999 and immediately distinguished themselves with their own musical style, from rockabilly to the aggressiveness of punk/rock up to the soft songs of country, never losing sight of the subtle ironic streak that characterizes them. Finally, Angelo Sicurella is a singer and composer involved in the field of electronic music, synth pop and experimental music.
