The Academic Senate, the Board of Directors and the Academic Presidency have appointed the art critic Tanino Bonifacio as coordinator and director of the “Department of Modern and Contemporary Art” of the Academy of Sicily, a prestigious cultural institution which includes important personalities from the national academic world. The awarding of the role to Bonifacio will be publicly attributed on June 3rd at the Politeama Theater in Palermo, on the occasion of the celebrations of the cultural activities of the Academy.
“Having attributed to prof. Tanino Bonifacio plays a fundamental role within the Sicilian Academy by directing the “Department of Modern and Contemporary Art” – declares President Tommaso Romano – and is an event of strong value for the Sicilian academic and cultural world due to his extraordinary personality and competence , to be counted among the major art historians and critics in Italy”.
This is how Bonifacio comments on his appointment: “I am truly grateful and honored for having been called to direct this important Department of the Academy of Sicily, a position of great responsibility and high cultural profile which I will lead with dedication and scientific rigor which have always guided in the work of promoting art, culture and museum systems”.
