VENICE – G7 Justice in Venice, protesters from social centers march against the war then try to break the police cordon and clashes break out. Clashes between police and demonstrators occurred today, Thursday 9 May, around 5.30 pm in Venice during the protest of the social centers of the North East against the G7 Justice meeting. About 250 demonstrators arrived in the city from Veneto and nearby regions. The procession tried to get closer to the venue of the meeting and here there were some charges to lighten the forces of law and order, to prevent the breakthrough of the closed area.

The demonstration for Palestine

The social centers declared they were demonstrating «against the G7 of (IN)justice, against the war, against the genocide in Palestine, for the freedom and rights of all». Among the issues of the complaint to Minister Carlo Nordio is the case of Ilaria Salis. The meeting point was the square of the Venezia Santa Lucia station at 5pm, then the procession in the historic center. – The situation in Venice has returned to calm after the attempt, rejected by the police, of around 250 demonstrators from the social centers to approach the venue of the G7 Justice summit. Forced to retreat from the lightening charges of the officers in anti-riot gear, the demonstrators returned towards the square of the Santa Lucia station, where the procession quickly dissolved. There were no protesters or police officers injured.
