A shock of earthquake magnitude 3.4 was recorded at 11.25pm ​​last night, Thursday 9 May, on the border between Italy and Switzerland. According to what was reported by INGV, the earthquake was recorded at a depth of one kilometer and the epicenter is located in the area of ​​the Gietro glacier, in the canton of Valais, about ten kilometers as the crow flies from the border with the ‘Italy.

The earthquake shock was felt by the population, Also in Italy. In particular, they felt last night’s earthquake in Valle d’Aosta and in various areas of Piedmont, especially in Val Sesia, in the Biella area and in Verbano.

According to data released by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, there are five Italian municipalities – all in the Aosta Valley – located within twenty kilometers of the epicentre. It’s about Bionaz, Oyace, Ollomont, Valpelline, Doues.

I lived in Frascati and I felt several earthquakes, even powerful ones, but never this rumble that preceded it,” wrote a user. “First heard a rumble (very strange) and then the bed vibrating. In Aosta”, writes another person.

Reports arrive from different areas of the two regions of Northern Italy: from Valessero (Biella), Champoluc, Valtournenche.
