May 12, 2024 is celebrated World Fibromyalgia Day, a syndrome characterized mainly by widespread musculoskeletal pain, which can be accompanied by chronic fatigue, mental confusion (fibro fog) and with 100 symptoms. Fibromyalgia affects over 2,000 people in Italy and all regions celebrate World Fibromyalgia Day in collaboration with local associations.

Also Reggio Calabria since 2018 it has accepted the invitation to participate in this day to make fibromyalgic people and their problems, still not recognized by the Calabria Region, visible to the population in order to obtain the necessary care. The Reggio Fibromyalgia Association celebrates World Day with an appointment, on May 12th at 10 am, at the purple bench near the Aragonese castle; in the evening, thanks to the availability of the civic administration, Palazzo San Giorgio will be lit up in purple, the symbolic color of Fibromyalgia, to demonstrate that our city joins all the other cities in Italy in favor of the recognition of this pathology by of the regional health authorities. In this sense, the two local authorities together with the Social Policies Council of which the Reggio Calabria Association is part, are working towards the Calabria Region.

The Reggio Fibromyalgia Association invites the population to take part in this day, to strengthen the Association’s action.
