The extraordinary checks by the Perugia Railway Police continue in the Perugia and Foligno stations as part of the services provided by the Marche Umbria and Abruzzo Polfer Department to increase the safety levels of travelers traveling by train.
The railway police operators, during the monitoring activity, also made use of the help of canine personnel who checked the passengers in transit and on board the train in order to ascertain the possible possession of narcotic substances.
During the checks, Polfer officers used the smartphones provided for real-time control of documents and metal detectors for baggage inspection.
In addition to a deterrent function against petty crime crimes – thefts, robberies, drug dealing and harassing begging – the Polfer operators also carried out anti-pickpocketing services during the phases of entry and exit from the convoys.
This extraordinary control activity also includes the control of infrastructures and objectives deemed sensitive, also in consideration of the particular international context, which is fundamental for the protection of the lines and to avoid damage, theft of copper and episodes of soiling.
The prevention service allowed us to identify 542 people last week and monitor the arrival and departure of 12 convoys.
However, there were 41 patrols for control services at the station and 6 on board the trains.
The activity was also an opportunity to raise citizens’ awareness of incorrect behavior in the railway sector such as, for example, crossing the tracks or failure to comply with safety rules.
