PESCARA. Thirty projects from Martinsicuro to San Salvo for a total amount of 74 million and 105 thousand euros financed with Cohesion and Development funds assigned by the government to the Abruzzo Region to protect the coast from erosion. The largest portion of the funding goes to the northern stretch of the Teramo coast which includes the municipalities of Tortoreto, Alba Adriatica and Martinsicuro, recipients of 25 million euros. Immediately afterwards, in the list we publish below, we find the Theatine municipalities crossed by the Via Verde della Costa dei trabocchi which, overall, will receive almost 9 million euros to protect the cycle path from erosive phenomena caused by the sea.
FIRST MEETING
After Cipess gave the green light to the FSC for Abruzzo, the Region decided to start a series of meetings with stakeholders. The first was held yesterday morning in Pescara, in the Corradino D’Ascanio room of the Regional Council, in the presence of the Infrastructure Councilor, Umberto D’Annuntiis and the technicians of the Regional Service for Maritime Works of the Region, with the aim of disseminating and sharing the Coastal Defense Plan.
The first meeting, dedicated to the municipalities of Alba Adriatica and Martinsicuro, was attended by representatives of the respective municipal administrations, the hotel and seaside category associations and the anti-erosion committee.
The designers, together with the service manager, the engineer Marcello D’Alberto, exposed the technical-economic feasibility projects, developed in this first phase, which involve the installation of rigid parallel barriers. Councilor D’Annuntiis then underlined «the value and importance of the socio-economic implications that the erosion restoration interventions will have on the Teramo coast». And he also expressed “satisfaction with the shared path carried out by the regional council which will allow us to carry out an intervention that has been awaited for over twenty years”.
