TURIN – The 69-year-old man who died when hit by a bus near the Porta Nuova station in Turin this morning, Thursday 9 May, is Valentino Ganz, owner of Torino Basket.
The IT entrepreneur was crossing on the pedestrian crossing regulated by traffic lights while the bus proceeded towards Corso Sommelier on a reserved lane. It is now up to the investigators to understand who had the green light.
Valentino Ganz was born in Belluno in 1955. He was an entrepreneur in the IT security sector, CEO of Asit in Mappano with five offices in Italy. He had founded Torino Basket with a group of friends, which plays in Serie B.
“The company expresses deep condolences towards the victim’s family and closeness to the driver involved, and is collaborating with the competent authorities to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident – Arriva, the bus transport company, writes in a note – . From an initial internal reconstruction, the driver of the vehicle, who was passing through via Sacchi, tried to avoid the pedestrian by going towards the opposite lane, without managing to avoid the impact. The driver, who has worked for Arriva for 28 years, immediately stopped the vehicle in which there were 2 passengers, and activated the required emergency procedure by promptly contacting the police and medical assistance”.
