Time to take stock for the Anmig of Foligno

Approval of the final budget for 2023 and the budget for 2024 and presentation of the book “L’uomo del volgo reemerso” by member Carla Ponti in the annual assembly of the National Association of the Mutilated and War Invalids of Foligno, in fact the 103rd, which was gathered on the morning of Sunday 5 May.

The meeting was chaired by the president of Anmig Umbria, Remo Gasperini, who in his speech underlined the financial management capacity demonstrated by the Foligno section, through the budgets approved unanimously by the members. A management that has not had a clear path, also given the heavy economic commitments incurred due to various extraordinary maintenance interventions, aimed at preserving the property in via Piermarini which houses the association’s headquarters.

Furthermore, during the morning, the president of the city section of Anmig, Fiorella Agneletti, summarized this last year of activity and presented the association’s current and future projects. And he did it in the presence of the Umbrian presidents Rita Bacoccoli, Adriano Tofi, Aldo Vispi, Paolo Berretti, Bruno Vinerba with his deputy Mariangela Rossi, and Sauro Vitali respectively of the sections of Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Città di Castello, Castiglione del Lago and Gualdo Tadino as well as Roberto Pepponi and Fausto Sonno of the Spello Trusteeship. This was followed by the donation, by Lieutenant Knight Giampiero Bianchini, of a parchment with all the names of the section presidents written in Gothic character.

Then, as mentioned, the presentation of Carla Ponti’s book, a novel set in Umbria. Professor Roberto Segatori coordinated the conference, with the intervention of the president of the city council Lorenzo Schiarea and the journalist Alvaro Fiorucci. The latter described the author’s writing ability as “fascinating”. “The common thread – Fiorucci then commented – concerns the search for a very difficult path by the protagonist of the book, to conquer his rights such as autonomy and freedom. A way of social emancipation of rural society, obtained with legal instruments, of redemption from the difficult life conditions experienced in the early twentieth century, before and during the First World War followed, then, by the equally tragic period of the twenty years of fascism”.

To accompany the presentation of the novel, the reading of some passages by some students of the 1st G of the aeronautical technical-economic institute “Scarpellini di Foligno (Agata Ciavaglia, Sofia D’Ambrosio, Sara Piselli, Chiara Santarelli, Veronica Volpi, Tancha Ayuk Nigefor Kensha), under the direction of professor Mara Savini, vice principal Maria Carla Cicciola, and accompanied, for the occasion, by professor Fausto Rapaccini. Among the very large audience present at the event were also professor Luigi M. Reale and journalist Claudio Bianconi, who edited the preface and introduction of Carla Ponti’s book and who brought their own contribution on Sunday morning.
