It is with the cry of “new life for the city” that Foligno in the Municipality presented the list of candidates for the administrative elections next June. On the afternoon of Thursday 9 May, the political movement that makes up the progressive coalition led by mayoral candidate Mauro Masciotti presented to the city the names of those who will run on 8 and 9 June. At the center of Foligno’s electoral program in the Municipality are, mainly, environment and solidarity, for a “fairer, more open, more united” city, as was recalled during the event. After a first electoral experience in 2019, in this new round the list presents itself with the Greens-Left Alliance within it and, as already announced in recent weeks, a representation of the Socialists for Foligno. For Foligno in Comune, those that are about to end have been five years “which have disappointed many of those who had entrusted to the right the hope of a leap forward for a turning point”. For the list that makes up the centre-left mosaic, there is an increasingly greater need for “innovation, sustainability and attention to those who are suffering” in addition to “more participation”. Foligno in Comune also underlines how the problems of five years ago “are still there, bigger and more urgent”. Looking back at what has happened in this five-year period, among the surprises highlighted there are certainly those of the pandemic and the further winds of war, but there are many confirmations to work on such as climate change, poverty and the decline of Italy and the Umbria. Eight “government cards” for the city presented by Foligno in the Municipality, which concern the themes already highlighted. Among these there is also that of the “culture with which one must be able to eat”.
“What we present – said Vicenzo Falasca, member of Foligno in the Municipality, opening the afternoon – is not an alternative program, but we have rewritten together with the citizens what was already there five years ago, with points to overcome and relaunch. Ours was the second city in the province but, despite the friendly regional government, it is now in decline. Foligno has disappeared from the Umbrian political scene.”
