For Antonella Fiordelisi and Estefania Ebernal, bitter enemies but also (almost always) respected adversaries, they called them “mess”. Not talented dancers, pastry chefs and brothers Damiano and Massimiliano Carrara won the 2024 edition of Beijing Express. But, if a winner is seen at the start, it is actually true that the two Tuscans have been very strong since the first episode.

Who are Damiano and Massimiliano Carrara, the pastry chefs

Damiano, 38, and Massimiliano, 36, originally from Lucca, are two brothers united by their passion for pastry making and the desire to conquer the world of desserts. Known as “The Pastry Chefs”, the two entered the world of entertainment as contestants on the popular television show Beijing Express.

Their story begins in Lucca, where they cultivated a passion for gastronomy from an early age. Damiano, with some experience as a bartender, and Massimiliano, passionate about pastry making since adolescence, decided to make the big leap in 2012, moving to California to open two successful pastry shops, the “Carrara Pastries”.

In America, Damiano quickly gained fame thanks to his participation in television programs such as Food Network America. In 2015, he stood out as a contestant in the first season of Spring Baking Championship, placing second, and continues to establish himself as a contestant on other cooking shows. In 2016, he participated in Food Network Star, earning third place. His return to Italy in 2017 led him to take on the role of judge on successful programs such as BakeOff Italia and Junior BakeOff. In 2018, he also became host of Cake Star and Fuori Menù. With two recipe books published in the United States and his first book published in Italy in 2020, Damiano has proven himself to be not only a talented pastry chef, but also an authoritative voice in the world of gastronomy.

Massimiliano, on the other hand, currently manages three renowned pastry shops in Los Angeles, continuing to carry forward the prestigious “Carrara Pastries” brand.
