AGI – The program is online new edition of Internazionale Kids in Reggio Emilia, the first Italian journalism festival for girls and boys, which returns from 10 to 12 May. The initiative, now in its fourth edition, is promoted by the monthly magazine of the same name which brings the best of the international press to Italy for readers between the ages of 7 and 13. A program full of events in a territory, that of Reggio Emilia, which continues to be committed to the education of young people and the promotion of active citizenship. The themes and places. Organized by Internazionale Kids, the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and the Palazzo Magnani Foundation, the three days dedicated to journalism for children will be a journey through the major themes of information, from feminism to the environment, from rights to the economy, from politics to technology, with an eye always turned to current events. An itinerary that uses different languages to offer recreational and educational opportunities, including workshops, podcasts, shows, cinema, books, comics, games and much more. The venues of the festival will be the Cavallerizza Theatre, the Palazzo dei Musei, Piazza Martiri del 7 July, the Valli Theatre, the Cloisters of San Pietro and the Mapei Stadium.
Among the events not to be missed is the meeting with the Post journalist and expert on gender issues and women’s movements, Giulia Siviero, to think about the fact that gender stereotypes also affect men, but it is possible to get rid of them. The meeting will also be available in Lis, the Italian sign language. In the Marble Portico of the Museum Palace, however, Paola Borrioneresearch director and president of the Santagata Foundation, a pioneering institute in the study of the economics of culture, will talk about how climate change is affecting the way we travel and will share advice and guidance on how to choose sustainable travel destinations.
At Internazionale Kids in Reggio Emilia there will also be a review of podcasts for girls and boys for the first time: Ready to listen, an engaging selection of stories from Italy and the world chosen in collaboration with Radiopapesse, an audio archive dedicated to art contemporary and place of production and diffusion of sound arts. The presence of writers at the festival is inevitable. The appointment with How to become a writer is a meeting to discover the charm of writing and the magic of inventing stories, with the journalist and writer Luigi Garlandointerviewed by the bookseller of the Ottimomassimo bookshop in Rome, Deborah Soria, who takes care of book reviews on Internazionale Kids. The event is in collaboration with the Sports Foundation of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia. Friday afternoon will close with the show Monsieur René – Gardien de notes, organized in collaboration with Palazzetto Bru Zane – Center de musique romantique francaise, in which an orchestra conductor tells how music can be read in everything.
The program, in detail
The evening program of the festival includes two screenings: on Friday the best animated short films from the Imaginaria festival in Conversano and on Saturday ‘Gray your eyes’, the photographic reports from all over the world published in the monthly magazine over the last year. There is no shortage of current events at Internazionale Kids. With Catherine Cornet, a journalist who collaborates with Internazionale, we will talk about the long history of the Palestinian people. ‘What game are we playing?’ Instead, it is the title of the meeting, organized in collaboration with Mapei Stadium, in which the Italian-Sinhalese writer Nadeesha Uyangoda, author of the book ‘The only black person in the room (66thand2nd, 2021)’, will stimulate reflections and new awareness on the topic of rights through sport: the bodies of athletes are not only white, male and able-bodied and putting them all on the field also means engaging in politics and building a better society.
