Luciano Pizzetti presents «the community list»: ‘Cremona is you’

CREMONA – The electoral campaign is getting more and more lively in view of the local elections in June: Saturday at 11am, in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, the ‘Cremona sei tu’ list will be presented with Luciano Pizzetti at the top of the list in support of the mayoral candidate Andrea Virgilio. «It is a group of 12 women and 12 men who are committed together for a more beautiful, lively and welcoming Cremona» announces without further revealing the cards Santo Canale, king of preferences who this time is not a candidate but is in the field at an organizational level team support.

They have certainly chosen an evocative place to present themselves to the city: they will meet the people of Cremona in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, at the former Church of San Francesco. And it is no coincidence: the former hospital is in fact a crucial part of the urban regeneration project called ‘Youth in the centre’ and destined in the coming years to revitalize that sector of the historic centre.

Specifically, the redevelopment of the former church of San Francesco is part of a much broader plan which envisages redesigning the entire area which includes the former hospital in via Radaelli, the personal services citadel and the Vecchio Passeggio park, but also the buildings that today house the San Francesco nursery, the Martini nursery school and the Campi secondary school, as well as Piazza Lodi and Piazza Giovanni XXIII. Declared objective: to regenerate spaces in the center to be dedicated to cultural and social activities that involve young people in particular. At the presentation of the ‘Cremona sei tu’ list there will be all the candidates, the mayor candidate Andrea Virgilio with the list leader Luciano Pizzetti and the philosopher Mauro Ceruti.

«I like to define ‘Cremona sei tu’ not as a civic list, but as a community list — is the message from Luciano Pizzetti —. The trait that the candidates have in common is that they have already worked in different ways and forms to support others and our community.” Among them, among others, the infectious disease specialist Claudia Balottafrom Cremona who in 2020, head of the working group at the Sacco Hospital in Milan, in the midst of the Covid emergency, managed to identify the Italian strain of the virus.
