Administrative elections, Aci Prato meets the mayoral candidates

PRATO – Mobility, transport, roads: the cycle of electoral meetings continues with the mayoral candidates promoted by Aci Prato. The calendar offers three appointments with as many political exponents running for the position of mayor: Gianni Cenni, supported by the centre-right, will be the protagonist of the meeting on Monday 13 May. The next day for the center-left it will be the turn of Ilaria Bugetti. Finally, the candidate from the ‘Prato Merita’ list Mario Daneri will be the protagonist of the meeting on Tuesday 21 May. All appointments are scheduled at 6pm at the ‘Palazzo delle Professioni’ in via Pugliesi, in the ‘Sala della Torre’. The approach to the elections was born from the open letter, signed by Aci Prato, addressed to the political parties and civic movements involved in the administrative elections of 8 and 9 June. The objective of these meetings is to learn about the plans related to mobility and infrastructure of the Prato of the future through the projects of those who will administer the city in the space of just over a month. Meetings with the candidates have already been held in recent weeks Jonathan Targetti for the ‘Targettopoli’ civic list, with the exponents of the ‘Azione’ party and with those of the civic list in support of Massimo Taiti (who later withdrew his candidacy).

«For years we have indicated our priorities and explained our suggestions to politicians – he underlines Federico Mazzoni, president of Aci Prato –. Now, in view of the local elections and the installation of a new council, we want to give our members and the people of Prato the opportunity to listen firsthand and learn about the programs of the mayoral candidates.” In addition to listening to the proposals, the meetings with the candidates aim to be a moment of political awareness towards the urgent needs of the Prato area. «We are referring – continues Mazzoni – to a local public transport on road that is flexible and adapted to the times, to an integrated plan worthy of a metropolitan area, to the reconfiguration of the road network taking into account the new technologies available, and to the addition of interactive territorial intelligence available to all. For mobility there is a lot to do in the city, we say it loudly. Like Aci Prato we want to stimulate the new administration, also through the harmonization of the urban mobility plans of the neighboring territories, in synergy with that of Prato. This would mean thinking more like a single metropolitan area, to the benefit of those who live in our city.”

Hence Aci Prato’s choice to promote the meetings, aiming for the widest possible participation. «This is why – concludes the director of Aci Prato, Claudio Bigiarini – we have chosen to host the meetings in a location outside ours. We want to open up to the territory and ensure the participation of as many people as possible. At the end of the meetings we will collect and analyze all the material collected. Then we will return it to the city. The objective is to create, all together, the conditions for sustainable mobility and adequate infrastructure for the coming decades in Prato.”
