Northern League activist called fascist and attacked in Prato

A serious attack occurred late this morning, just before midday, against Mrs. Anna Maniscalchi, animal welfare activist and candidate for the Prato city council for the League for Salvini Premier. Mrs. Maniscalchi was brutally attacked and knocked to the ground by a group of people with foreign features and accents, presumably involved in drug dealing, while she was returning to her car after meeting citizens during the electoral campaign.

The victim herself revealed this with a voice message in the chat of the League’s candidates, a few minutes after the attack. Anna Maniscalchi was about to open her car, after having spoken to a last passer-by who was taking her dog for a walk, when the attackers, noticing the tickets relating to her electoral campaign, called her a “fascist” and threw her to the ground.

The very serious episode occurred in the car park of the Galceti park, near the Bardena stream. witnesses immediately called the police, who intervened promptly. The candidate went to the emergency room of the Santo Stefano hospital in Prato, where she was treated. Her condition does not cause concern, despite the pain and some bruises sustained in the fall and the state of disarming shock in which Maniscalchi finds herself, despite her determination to continue with the electoral campaign.

«First of all, I express my closeness to Anna but I cannot help but point the finger at the root cause of so much violence, that is, the left’s presumption of always and in any case being on the right side and of covering up its own shortcomings, not to mention conveniences, calling those who don’t think in a certain way fascists and calling those who are not and will never be welcoming – says the provincial secretary of the League for Salvini as prime minister, Daniele Spada – Evidently, shouting at the fascist at every turn ends up awaken the fascist instinct of those in Italy, dedicated to serious crimes with the certainty of impunity. Today, we have gone beyond the mark – Spada continues and concludes – Today we have gone beyond drug dealing, theft or loitering, which is also to the detriment of the many immigrants who share the values and commitment of our country, and we are faced with people who they have learned the lesson of the left: it is enough to define others as fascists to cover up their own mistakes and shortcomings.”

In the afternoon, Mrs. Maniscalchi will go to the police station, accompanied by the secretary Daniele Spada, to file a complaint.

The League for Salvini Premier firmly condemns this and any other act of violence. On the other hand, this episode underlines the urgent need to strengthen security measures in our city and to take severe measures against crime and illegality in the center as well as in the peripheral areas, abandoned to themselves despite the dreamlike visions on which, without achieving any results, the Pd administration was governed for 10 years.
