Priority stamp and leaflet for the Italian tennis players who won the Davis Cup last November 26th
If the 95 cent stamp of 6 December 2016 celebrated the forty years since the Italian victory at the Davis Cup, today’s stamp concerns the second conquest, recorded last 26 November. Unnecessarily duplicated in a sheet of twenty-eight copies and in a self-adhesive sheet (print run: two hundred thousand four and one hundred thousand copies), it is an “Azona1”. By paying 3.60 euros, you can send a postcard or letter in fifty grams as a priority, to Europe or the Mediterranean.
The homage appears in the “Lo sport” series; the sketch, by Maria Carmela Perrini, shows the team in the act of lifting the trophy, referring to the highest global competition for national teams; a ribbon with the colors of the flag is added. The sheet of paper is accompanied by a photo of the players positioned around the recognition; from left to right here are Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi, captain Filippo Volandri, Jannik Sinner, Simone Bolelli and Lorenzo Sonego. The logo of the Italian tennis and padel federation is added. The cancellation is at Roma Prati, post office located in viale Mazzini 101.
“An exceptional year”
The bulletin was signed by the president of the Federation itself, Angelo Binaghi. “2023 – he writes – was an exceptional year for Italian tennis and I am convinced that those to come will be equally exceptional. But ours is a journey that began a long time ago. Years in which we faced difficult moments but which served to build, brick by brick, the incredible successes of today. It is important, therefore, to never forget where we started from, to fully appreciate where we have arrived. The victories of our girls and the golden era of men’s that we are experiencing in recent years were certainly the result of a vision, of careful planning but, above all, of a lot of work”.
