Also for this Confindustria Piedmont wanted to shine a spotlight on the effects that the AI ​​revolution could have on the business world in particular. He did it in collaboration with Anitec-Assinform, Digital innovation hub and Fondazione Piemonte Innova.

This is a market, that of AI, which in 2023 in Italy was estimated at 570 million euros with a growth rate of over 30%. A rate that continues into 2024 and which allows us to glimpse the goal of 1.2 billion euros by 2026. In 2022 the Artificial Intelligence market in Piedmont exceeded 43 million euros, with an important growth prospect of +67.2% by the end of 2024, the year in which it will reach 72.9 million euros .

For the current year, a contribution to the entire digital sector is estimated at 4.8%. In Piedmont alone, the digital market as a whole was close to 6 billion euros.

But in the meantime, Europe has already wanted to establish boundaries, with the new package of rules of the recent “act” approved by the EU bodies. “Artificial intelligence is a discipline that uses the computer to read the data we have left in the past and produce predictions – explains Massimo ChiriattiCTO of Lenovo Italy – but also texts, audio and video. Added to the data are algorithms and the ability to make calculations, on software that we have programmed. And over time the costs of these activities are falling, with a quantity of data now out of scale for the human mind. It serves to establish a relationship between past and future“.

Of course, choices must be made about expenses and data entrustment. But machines have no wisdom, no intention. So they will never replace us“.

“For now, have a very muscular approach to artificial intelligence, with algorithms that have trillions of parameters and require a lot of energy. Which puts its sustainability in crisis“, He says Barbara Caputo, director of the AI ​​hub of the Polytechnic of Turin. “There is no unlimited access to AI-related tasks, because there is not enough energy. And not only that: they are instruments that heat, so they must be cooled. And everything is cooled with water“.

On the topic of AI, the President of the Region, Alberto Ciriohe underlined how “we worked hard on the result we just achieved on artificial intelligence. In 2020 it was just a regulatory indication, while now it has become reality. The allocation of 20 million euros per year is decidedly important. Now we will see what the definitive location will be for a structure that will employ 2-300 people at full capacity. And it goes hand in hand with the Book Fair, which starts tomorrow and which represents Natural Intelligence“.
