A course on autism at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Turin

Through a specifically dedicated course, autism is about to enter the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Turin. Specifically, the specialist Cristina Panisi will launch the path on May 17th and 24th, with the two lessons entitled “Autism: paradigmatic condition for neurodevelopmental and communication disorders”. «The maximum number of registrations allowed for the course – underlined by the Autism and Society Association of Turin – was reached well in advance, confirming the interest in the topic on the part of future doctors»

Through a specifically dedicated course, theautism is about to enter the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery ofUniversity of Turin. Specifically, she will be the specialist Cristina Panisi to start the journey on May 17th and 24th, with the two entitled lessons Autism: paradigmatic condition for neurodevelopmental and communication disorders.
These lessons will be offered as part of the HADES (Elective Teaching Activities), certified training activities, selected by third year students, to integrate their study plan with insights chosen based on personal interests. The ADEs will take place at the Department of Medical Sciences, Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery, thanks to the availability of the Department of Otolaryngology of the University of Turin, directed by Roberto Albera and the collaboration of the teacher Andrea Canale.

«It is interesting to note – underlined by the Association Autism and Society of Turin – that the maximum number of registrations allowed for the course Autism: paradigmatic condition for neurodevelopmental and communication disorders was achieved well in advance with respect to the closing of the registrations themselves, confirming theinterest for the topic by future doctors. While waiting for the study plan of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery to dedicate adequate space to neurodevelopmental disorders – and the global perspective that they require -, currently the ADEs represent precious training windowswhich could be used by universities on the national territory. Furthermore, once the ADEs have been established persist in subsequent yearsallowing continuity and continuous updating of the training proposal”.
