A large fire broke out this morning in the headquarters of the Alpitronic company in via di Mezzo ai Piani di Bolzano, leader in the production of charging stations for electric cars. The alarm went off shortly after 9am, and the firefighters’ intervention is currently still underway. A cloud of smoke is visible over the city, and for safety reasons it was a school in the area was evacuated.

Firefighters from all over the area are still working on the scene. At the moment there are no injuries: it seems that the warehouse where the flames broke out was under renovation. According to initial reconstructions, the flames started from the roof. The president of the Province Arno Kompatscher was also on site and explained that the situation is “under control”, adding: “Thank goodness there are no injuries. We can already say that the parts where the batteries are located are not affected, the situation concerns the roof where work was underway”.

While waiting to assess the impact of the cloud of smoke that rose over the city, the police are advising the population not to leave their homes. It also was airspace closedtemporarily.

«In Bolzano there are intense smokes due to a fire. It is advisable to keep doors and windows closed, and to turn off air conditioning and ventilation systems.” This is what the civil protection announced following the fire.
