Saint-Vincent: 700 thousand euros arriving from Bonatti for Fons Salutis. This is what emerged from the extraordinary thematic council on Tuesday 7 May on the state of the art of the spa.

«Bonatti has recently presented to us a project to make the Fons Salutis and the avenue safe for an amount of 700 thousand euros. Now we will have to evaluate whether the interventions meet our needs» Mayor Francesco Favre announced in the chamber

The Saint-Vincent group together to change, led by Maurizio Castiglionireiterated that «the 700 thousand euros must be preparatory to the complete renovation of the building and that the concessionaire must be asked what its idea of valorising the property is as well as specifying the timing and economic return hypotheses».

Costs

For Fons Salutis alone, 2.6 million euros were expected. Approximately 10 million interventions were carried out (spa, nephrology centre, swimming pool and saunas).

The Iiriti-Jacquemet Saint-Vincent group, led by Carmen Jacquemet, expressed doubts that the concession is unbalanced in favor of the concessionaire. Lawyer Bucchi stated that he does not consider the current concession to be an unbalanced one. Mayor Favre specified that «the review procedure defines the situation and is for the protection of the institution. The public interest is not to enter into litigation, which all the lawyers have advised against.” He highlighted some data that places the concession experience in a favorable light: in 2008, the spa was open from May to October with a cost of 250 thousand euros per year paid by the Municipality. Now it is a business open 364 days a year, with over 40 thousand entries, around ten employees and related activities for the local area

The Sources

The opposition then focused on the Sources hotel and the kidney center. The mayor responded that “there had been interest in the hotel prior to this council but there was no realisation, probably due to the imposing volumes of the building and the consequent high costs of re-functionalisation”. Regarding the future of the nephrology center, he said that «we are looking for continuity or an alternative. There are no certainties in any direction.”
