L’Aquila, the 11th edition of the San Bernardino concert on May 17th


THE EAGLE – XI edition of the San Bernardino concert – The traditional concert that the L’Aquila Chamber Orchestra, directed by maestro Carmine Gaudieri, performs in honor of the patron saint of the city of L’Aquila reaches its 11th edition this year. It will take place on May 17, 2024opening day of the celebrations dedicated to the saint, at 9pmafter the mass.

A concert of sacred music as a moment of spiritual elevation and to underline the solemnity of the religious event. This year there will also be the participation of the In Canto dell’Aquila Choir directed by maestro Vittorio Lucchese. The event therefore includes the performance of the L’Aquilana Chamber Orchestra with a program of baroque music with the most well-known songs of the period. Includes the Symphony in G major. by T. Albinoni, Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater for contralto and orchestra, the very famous Ombra mai fu by Handel, entrusted to the tenor Benedetto Agostino, Caccini’s Ave Maria, entrusted to the soprano Lucia Vaccari and, to conclude, the Magnificat of A . Vivaldi for soloists, choir and orchestra with the soloists Lisa Brandolini (contralto), Lucia Vaccari and Marianna Volkova (sopranos).

AQUILANA CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

The L’Aquila Chamber Orchestra has been active since 1995. It was established within the ATHENA Musical Association of L’Aquila. He has concerts to his credit in Abruzzo, Lazio, in the rest of Italy and abroad for important concert societies (Concert Season of the Normale of Pisa, Concert Society of Palermo, Amici della Musica of Matera, Festival of Grottammare, Rome, Milan etc.). He has performed many concerts in L’Aquila as part of exhibitions and events: Music and Literature, Perdonanza Celestiniana, I Cantieri dell’Immaginario. She performed in China at the Zibo Radio Television at the Bejiing Hall in Beijing, at the Great Theater in Changchun etc. He has collaborated with leading soloists, such as the mandolinist Dorina Frati (solo mandolinist of the Solisti Veneti), the Bondoneon soloist Massimiliano Pitocco, the cellist Luca Provenzani (1st cellist of the RAI of Turin and of the Tuscany Region), the oboist Maurizio Colasanti, the internationally renowned pianists Marcella Crudeli and Bruno Canino, the cellist Rocco Filippini, and many others.

The choral association “L’Aquila in canto”

Founded in 2019, in 2020 it transformed into a Third Sector organization and joins the national association network “Federcori”, for which it participated in the “La Vergine del Silenzio”, “Natale in Chorus” and “Passio.Christi” exhibitions.
He carries out concert and liturgical animation activities, also in collaboration with soloists and instrumentalists, and has sung live on television on Rete 4 and TV2000, and at concerts at the Auditorium of Perugia and Santo Stefano di Sessanio. She won the “Silver Prize” in the “Chorus Advent 2022” International Choir Competition. He performed in the meditation concert “TOTUS TUUS” in S. Pietro della Ienca, directed by M. mons. Marco Frisina with the L’Aquilana Chamber Orchestra in August 2023.
The repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant to polyphony, up to contemporary music, mainly in the sacred field, also drawing from non-Catholic Christian liturgical traditions. Since 2021 the artistic director is maestro Vittorio Lucchese.
