PESARO – The label says Acacia, but the honey is Millefiori (which costs a third): the Forestry Carabinieri seize 6 quintals of it
Urbania, illegal truffle hunter discovered by citizens in Barco: he runs away but is fined 1,800 euros
In recent weeks, the soldiers of the Environmental, Agri-Food and Forestry Police Investigation Unit of the CC Forestry Group of Pesaro and Urbino, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, proceeded with the criminal seizure of approximately 600 kg of wildflower honey fraudulently labeled as honey of acacia. During an inspection carried out on a local agricultural company, which deals, among other things, with beekeeping, the soldiers found honey contained in barrels inside the store’s warehouse. The honey was sampled to be subjected to “melissopalynological” analysis to ascertain its geographical and botanical origin. In light of the results of the aforementioned laboratory analyses, it was ascertained that the honey was not of the declared acacia quality, but of the different and less valuable wildflower quality. Acacia honey, notoriously, has a market value almost three times higher than the wildflower quality.
