An eleven-year-old boy was reported to the juvenile prosecutor’s office for a robbery that occurred last March in a supermarket in Ferrara. The police made this decision after collecting testimonies and viewing the images from the surveillance cameras present in the shop.

According to what emerged from the Flying Squad’s investigations, the boy entered the supermarket during the day and headed towards an area reserved for staff. Using keys taken from a box, he managed to open the safe containing the previous day’s proceeds, taking away three cases.

During the action, a shop assistant tried to stop him, but was pushed and the young man disappeared. However, in the clash, he lost the backpack which contained part of the loot. The investigators were thus able to identify him thanks to the analysis of the images and also of his profiles on social networks.

The boy managed to escape with a case containing over 6,000 euros in cash, while the other two were recovered. His young age and the incredible nature of the crime have raised many questions about his family situation and the reasons that pushed him to commit such a serious act. Reporting him to the Children’s Prosecutor’s Office indicates that he will be dealt with by the justice system in a manner commensurate with his age and the severity of his behaviour.
