The five points from which to start again, this is how Romito imagines Bari
Descriptive text here

Fabio Romito, 37 years old, sixteen of whom spent time in politics. On the streets and in the neighborhoods of the city. Already a municipal councilor first and then a regional one, the centre-right candidate in the next municipal elections on 8 and 9 June wants to be the mayor of a safe city for everyone. A city which, he explains, must respond to social emergencies together with a less social and more concrete policy.

Romito, what are the first five concrete points to start from?

“We will certainly restore security to the city through the deployment of at least one hundred men and women of the local police employed for control and prevention in the area. We then want to activate horizontal welfare paths in the city by supporting the network of parishes, day centers and schools. The objective is to support social projects also through the opening of the spaces of these realities. In other words, putting them in a position to transform these realities into points of reference for our community. This could be a way to bring the topic of the suburbs back to the center of the political debate in a concrete way. I think the time has come to make the general urban plan concrete. We’ve been talking about it for twenty years, but it’s remained locked in a drawer. For me it is instead an opportunity to offer affordable housing to the people of Bari. Without forgetting that here in Bari there is a shortage of public housing. Through a housing plan I intend to give an answer to the 1,500 families who still dream of a home.”

In your opinion, is it a weak point to be the League’s candidate?

“I’m talking first of all about my strengths: I’m a person from Bari in love and a passionate southerner. I have been involved in politics among the people for sixteen years. The league has never governed in this city. If anything, I see the weak point in the centre-left, in the PD in particular, which governed for twenty years and which brought Bari to the center of scandals”.

What kind of mayor do you want to be?

“I want to be the mayor of concreteness. I would like to bring Bari into a European dimension, as the capital of the Mediterranean. I would like to be the mayor of a Greater Bari”.

Romito, how are you at karaoke?

“I like to sing. My strong point is ’50 Special’ by Luna Pop. But I want to clarify one thing: Bari politics must get out of the habit of social media, of communication entrusted to agencies. We need to reconnect with the daily life of the people of Bari. With their real problems. In short, less communication, more concreteness.”
