The Horton Remex protagonist in Taranto – Chieti

ORTONA. Last Thursday, the Rowing Endurance 2024 – Porte dello Jonio Cup took place in Taranto, in the enchanting setting of the old city.
Excellent results were achieved by the Ortona athletes of the Asd Horton Remex in the Italian fixed-seat gozzo rowing stage, a cross-country race on 10-oared boats and national gozzo held on a 3,100 meter course. The competition venue was Mar Piccolo; the boats completed the circumnavigation of the old city with departure and arrival in front of the Liberty shelter. A folkloristic race on two-oared gozzo boats was also held. Numerous crews registered including one from Malta. Over 200 athletes competing.
The event, now in its third edition, was organized by the Asd Palio of Taranto, the Porte dello Jonio Nhood shopping center of Taranto and the Italian fixed seat rowing federation. In this context, to crown an intense day of emotions, the president’s Horton Remex women’s master Federico Morone he prevailed, winning the 3,100 meter cross-country race in his category.
A test of strength over the distance of the crew formed by Barbara D’Arielli (helmsman), Anna Paolini, Daniela Pollegioni, Rossella Scarinci And Adelina Lanuto (rowing machines). The senior women’s crew, however, achieved an excellent third place with two rowers making their debut – Fernanda Chiaramoni and Paola Di Tommaso – together with the navigations Maria Rosaria Poti and Barbara D’Arielli guided by the helmsman Rossella Scarinci. A third place which confirms the tradition of women’s rowing in Ortona and repays the athletes for the sacrifices made in training.
