COSENZA – “We continue to have to face the heavy legacy received from a disastrous decade for Cosenza and the people of Cosenza. We recently received a payment notification from the Revenue Agency for over 3 million euros of debt for SIAE rights never paid in the years from 2013 to 2019“. This is what they stated in a note municipal administrators in a dutiful information to the city, aimed, above all, at reassuring the citizens.
“We will resolve this too – continues the note from the Municipal Council –. Our mayor, Franz Caruso, has already shown, if necessary, that he has broad shoulders and foresight to respond effectively to a very heavy legacy, which goes well beyond the empty coffers and the collapse, as well as the Recovery Plan for the years 2020 and 2021 which we had to access due to the debt load coming from the past centre-right administration.
Today, the new e a condition that arises expands the liability which we are called to face together with the OSL, on which, however, we will work, as we are doing at 360° with the aim of restoring normality to the organization after the passage of “Attila” from Palazzo dei Bruzi”. We have already faced and resolved a similar situation last October when we received the cold shower from the failure to pay contributions to municipal employees for which we worked with the help of the competent offices and in a short time we remedied the contribution positions of the Municipality towards the social security institutions, regularizing the DURC (Single contribution regularity document). We will do the same thing now with regards to i rights due to Siae which makes the exit from the crisis more thorny.
The situation is, therefore, complex – continues the note – but we will resolve it. It won’t be easy. It is not easy nor, above all, is it obvious. In fact, it would be easier to follow the example of the past: accumulate more debts and get by. But, fortunately, we are something else. We love our city and feel the responsibility to build a better, progressive future for our children. With the rigor and ethics that distinguish us, therefore, we do not pursue easy consensus linked to electoral purposes by offering sand castles, but we tend towards the collective good by ensuring concrete and real action of which we have already left indelible traces. Unical hosted in our Historic Center, with the faculty of nursing sciences, is just an example that we like to remember because it represented a dream which, pursued by all of Franz Caruso’s predecessors, we made a splendid reality. On this path we will continue the journey for the rebirth of Cosenza, definitively bringing down the curtain on the last administrative decade, all to be forgotten”.
