Nothing to be done for Vela Nuoto Ancona who in the match against leaders Canottieri Napoli, played at home in Bologna due to the closure of the Passetto swimming pool for over two months, was forced to surrender 9-11, thus slipping to fifth place in the standings behind to Canottieri itself, to Crotone, to Olympic and to Lazio, and therefore out of the playoff zone with one matchday to go before the end of the regular season. The Dorians of coach Marco Risso, disqualified and replaced on the bench by Marco Palanca also given the absence of the second coach and president of the Doric club, Igor Pace, also disqualified, still play a good match, taking into account the difficult moment they are going through due to the difficulty in finding swimming pools and adequate spaces to train in a competitive championship like the A2 series. Dorici, however, always in the game, with Canottieri, who took the lead in the first half with Borrelli in superiority, then Zhardan also with the extra man, Borrelli again, Vela again with Tommaso Milletti, then Confuorto and Cerchiara for Canottieri, then Zhardan and Raia on a penalty, 3-5 at the first interval. Parisi’s superiority in the second half pushes the Neapolitans to +3, then Diego Bartolucci targets twice to keep the Dorians at 5-6 at the change of ends. It is again Diego Bartolucci at the start of the third half who brings the Ancona team to a temporary 6-6, then Canottieri scores with Confuorto on a penalty, Zhardan equalizes again at 7-7, Confuorto again on a penalty and Mutariello in superiority, finally Bartolucci again for 8-9 of the last interval. La Vela is there and in the last half has a surge of pride and achieves the temporary draw again at 9-9 with Pantaloni on a penalty shot, but in the last minute of the game the goals from Borrelli and Cappuccio deliver the three points to the league leaders, leaving a very bitter taste in the mouths of coach Risso’s team, always up to the task when faced with a superior opponent.
