Frost. The structures of the local port system have always been the major ailments in an infrastructural fabric that has continued to fail over time. With the advent of the Western Sicily Authority, which has taken charge of the system since 2021, the acceleration is expected to restore usability to the refuge port and to strengthen all the sites. The activity is not easy to prepare and finalize, given the abysmal delays that have accumulated over time. In the Region, in recent months, the implementation agreement for the works on the refuge port was signed, supported by the municipal administration and which places the main economic burdens on the Authority. To date, the site continues to be covered up and almost completely impassable. Activities are underway in the Authority’s offices to close the strategic system planning document, preparatory to the Port Master Plan. For this reason, until there is a well-defined planning, it has been decided that new state concessions or any renewals cannot exceed two years. “It is necessary, on the one hand, to safeguard the economic activities already operating in the port and, on the other, to preserve the planning and programming activity of the institution”, we read in the provision released at the beginning of March.
