They have been published and made available in the “Tax statistics” section of the department’s website Finances, data analyzes and tables relating to the 2023 Irpef and VAT declarations relating to the 2022 tax year. The overall declared income amounts to over 970.2 billion euros, +6.3% compared to the previous year. VAT is also advancing, the turnover increases by 25.5% compared to 2021.

Irpef numbers

The analysis shows that there are approximately 42 million taxpayers who have submitted their tax returns directly, through the transmission of the “Personal Income” and “730” forms or, indirectly, through the single certification prepared by the substitutes of tax (+1.3% compared to 2021). 23.8 million used the 730 form, with an increase of over 740 thousand taxpayers compared to the previous year; 8.8 million instead submitted “Personal Income”. The data of the remaining 9.4 million taxpayers, not required to submit the return directly, were acquired through the Single Certifications.

The declared

The greater number of registrants corresponds to the increase in total declared income, which, as anticipated, amounts to over 970.2 billion euros (58 billion more than the previous year, +6.3%) for an average value of 23,650 euros.

The region with the highest average is Lombardy (27,890 euros), while Calabria shows the lowest average income (17,160 euros).

The highest average income is from self-employment, equal to 64,670 euros. Followed by those declared by employees (22,280 euros) and pensioners (19,750 euros), which represent 83% of the total declared income.

From the statistics published today it can be seen that, in terms of changes compared to the previous year, the average values ​​of all types of income are growing: business income in ordinary accounting (+19.6%) and in simplified accounting (+12%) .5%); income from participation (+11.6%); that from self-employment (+6.9%); from pension (+4%) and from employed work (+3.6%).

In 2022, the amount of taxable income from buildings also gains 2.7 percentage points more than the previous year.

Furthermore, the bar rises for the net tax declared. This amounts to 174.2 billion euros (+1.9% compared to 2022), is equal to 5,380 euros on average and is declared by almost 32.4 million taxpayers, equal to approximately 77% of the total. The regional and municipal surcharges to Irpef show increases of 8.4 and 8.8% respectively.

In Puglia

These are the numbers relating to Puglia. In Bari the per capita income is equal to 22,419 euros, while that of Lecce is slightly higher, at 23,033. In third place among the Apulian cities is Taranto with 20,450 euros per capita.

Puglia is third to last nationally, preceding only Molise and Calabria. The average is just over 17 thousand euros per capita.

VAT numbers

Approximately 4.2 million taxpayers have submitted the VAT return for the 2022 tax year, a slight increase compared to the previous year (+0.6%), half of which are concentrated in Lombardy and Lazio . The declared turnover, however, reached 4,870 billion euros (+25.5% compared to 2021). What makes the difference are the “Supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning” activities, whose turnover grows by 118.7% compared to 2021. Followed, clearly separated, by the good performance of the “Food industries” (+18.9%), of the “Wholesale and retail trade” (+14.8) and of the “Machinery manufacturing” (+14.5%).

The amount of tax due in 2022 is 143.6 billion euros (+9.6% compared to 2021), while the tax credit is equal to 50.7 billion euros (+25.2% compared to to 2021).
