Corigliano Rossano: Permanent installation of the “Third Paradise”

Corigliano Rossano – Permanent installation of the “Third Paradise” sign/symbol by Michelangelo Pistoletto in Corigliano Rossano.

Corigliano Rossano, April 26th, will witness an extraordinary moment with the inauguration of the permanent installation of the “Third Paradise, sign and symbol of Michelangelo Pistoletto”, at the belvedere space of the Abbey of Santa Maria del Patir. This site-specific project, strongly supported by the Rossano Purpurea Association and the president Alessandra Mazzei and the architect. Mariella Arcuri, is the result of the collaboration and joint commitment of the curators Marilena (Maria) Morabito, ambassador of the Third Paradise, and Stefano Milazzo, with the coordination of Francesco Saverio Teruzzi, coordinator of the ambassadors of the Third Paradise, and is promoted by the Association ACAV with the free patronage of the Pistoletto Cittadellarte Foundation of Biella and the Municipality of Corigliano Rossano.

The inauguration of the Third Paradise coincides with the third edition of the cultural event “Patir”, organized with passion by the cultural association Rossano Purpurea. The Third Paradise fits perfectly into this frame, combining art, nature and spirituality in a symbol of rebirth and harmony.

But what does the Third Paradise represent? It is the fusion between the first and second paradise, a vision that Michelangelo Pistoletto eloquently outlined. While the first paradise evokes a harmonious integration of man into nature and the second paradise represents an artificial world characterized by progressive environmental degradation, the Third Paradise offers a way of balance between artifice and nature, an essential phase for human and planetary survival .
The Terzo Paradiso installation, created with cherry laurel plants donated by the Biodiversity Carabinieri body that manages the Abbey of Santa Maria del Patir, stands as a unique work, inviting visitors to deep reflection and emotional involvement. The symbol of the Third Paradise, a reconfiguration of mathematical infinity through three consecutive circles, represents the connection between diversity and antinomies, finding its generative fulcrum in the interpenetration between opposites.
