The latter paraded on the Croisette alongside the protagonists Anya Taylor-Joy And Chris Hemsworth: a trio that lit up the red carpet with his incredible charisma.

Every aspect of Furiosa – not just Rob Mackenzie’s immaculate sound design and Tom Holkenberg’s thundering score, but also the minimal dialogue that is interspersed between them – is geared towards the shared purpose of creating diesel harmony between people and the machinery of the Wasteland, so that the enormous roar of Dementus’ chariot or the guttural purr of Praetorian Jack’s “Valiant” becomes more expressive than anything these characters would otherwise have to say. No film this cacophonous has ever sounded more like music.
Also Baz Luhrmann, director of Moulin Rouge! And Elvis, attended the premiere, and called Furiosa “a steampunk and Wagnerian opera.” Expectations were already sky high and, after such a welcome, the curiosity to finally witness such a cruel and immersive show grew exponentially.
