Che Tempo Che Fa, Fazio’s joke to von der Leyen: “Do you remember them all?

“Che tempo che fa”, the talk which landed on Nove this year and masterfully hosted by Fabio Fazio with the historic presence of Luciana Littizzetto and Filippa Lagerback, has reached its last appointment of the season with the episode on Sunday 12 May. Precisely for this reason, Fazio declared that “Things will be done in a big way with an episode full of guests” – generating higher expectations than usual. The first to enter Fazio’s well-known living room, in fact, and exclusively, was the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. A guest announced a few days ago by the host himself with a post on social media: “On the day of Europe Day – writes Fazio – we have the pleasure of communicating that for the last episode of “Che tempo che fa” there is guest the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen”. Elected by the European Parliament on 16 July 2019 and the first woman to hold this position, von Der Leyen, on 19 February this year, announced her candidacy for a second mandate in view of the next European elections, which will be held between 6 and 9 June.

During the interview, followed by millions of viewers, there was a nice little aside that did not go unnoticed. It all started with Fazio’s debut: “Among other things, today is Mother’s Day” – he said, addressing the studio audience – “and Mrs von der Leyen has 7 children”, he then pointed out. “The question I want to ask you is” – he continued, addressing the guest directly – “do you remember the names of all seven?”. All accompanied by the laughter of the studio audience. The President lent herself to the curtain, starting to list the names of her seven children. Fazio, at one point, even stopped her, making her believe that she had made a mistake with one of her names. Obviously, von Der Leyen didn’t fall into the trap, but she spontaneously collaborated in this nice parenthesis which immediately prevailed in the ranking of the most tweeted moments of “CTCF” this evening.
