“I don’t believe that the disciplinary proceedings against Serena Bortone do justice to the matter – he underlines in a note – nor do it do RAI any good.” And in particular he is keen to point out that «what was reported by the CEO to the Supervisory Commission, tells in a partial way what happened, without mentioning any significant aspects. Without prejudice to the company policiesthe so-called Scurati case is still subject to checks by the company’s Internal Audit management – he concludes -, for which the President has the powers”. A precise and severe warning to her prerogatives which the president evidently believes are not respected by Sergio.
But it doesn’t end here: «The draft results of this audit – declares Soldi, entering into the merits – have been viewed by both me and the CEO and highlight a much more complex situation than the one described by the CEO, which requires a more comprehensive approach.”
In short, if it isn’t a denial of Sergio’s line, we’re almost there. During the hearing, the CEO actually specified that the letter of complaint concerns exclusively the post published by Bortone which violates company policy. And instead, on the merits, the audit is still underway but then he added on the merits that they are being carried out checks on “misalignments” in procedures. In essence, Sergio seemed to assume that there would be among the various people responsible for the affair just misunderstandings.
However, faced with questions from the opposition, in particular from Angelo Bonelli (Avs) e Stefano Graziano (Pd) which recalled the existence of a service order regarding the presence of Scurati on the broadcast canceled “for editorial reasons”Sergio cut it short, speaking of the existence of exclusively economic problems and minimizing any intervention from above.
It is on this point that the president evidently intervenes to say that the situation cannot be simplified in this way and that there are other responsibilities to be explored. At this point the outcome of the auditwho yesterday had passed into the second line, becomes decisive even in the face of the strong protests that arose in defense of Bortone from parties, unions and associations.
