Buenos Aires — Alejandra Marisa Rodríguez, a 60-year-old lawyer and journalist, won the Miss Universe Buenos Aires sash and will now represent her country in the international edition of the competition. Possible? Yes, thanks to a change in the rules of the event which allowed Rodríguez to participate in the competition in the province of Buenos Aires, a prelude to Miss Universe Argentina and the global Miss Universe competition.
A few months ago, the organization had decreed that, starting from 2024, the age restriction would be abolished which required the contestants to be between 18 and 28 years old. «I am very happy to represent this new paradigm in beauty pageants, because we are inaugurating a new phase in which women are not just physical beauty, but a broad set of values. I’m the first of this generation to start with this,” Rodriguez told the television network El Trece.

The lawyer and journalist born in Brandsen (province of Buenos Aires) then declared that her secret is based on a healthy lifestyle, about eating well, about being physically activeas well as on normal and non-extraordinary treatments and on the help of genetics.
«What I try to do in general is intermittent fasting, that is, going for a period of time without eating; I think this helps a lot. Then, I try to eat organic foods, use good creams and things like that.”
Rodríguez now looks to the event of May 25 in Buenos Aires, where she will compete to become the new Miss Universe Argentina and earn a ticket to the international edition of the competition. The South American country has won the competition only once, in 1962 with model Norma Nolan as its candidate; although she boasts two victories in the other global beauty pageant, Miss World, in the hands of Norma Cappagli (1960) and Silvana Suarez (1978).
