From the Region 8158 new permanent hires of healthcare professionals for the two-year period 2024-2025, of which 6843 authorizations for 2024 and 1315 new hires for the 2025 Jubilee, in addition to the 1541 stabilizations for the current year. With an investment of 466 million euros. These are the numbers of the hiring plan in healthcare in Lazio that President Francesco Rocca announced on the afternoon of Tuesday 7 May after a meeting with the unions.
New hires in the Region
The Lazio Region also recalls that by adding the hirings already granted in 2023 (4054 units, including 1605 stabilizations, for 195.5 million euros), we arrive at 13 thousand 753 healthcare workers (between new hirings and stabilizations) for a total investment of 661 million and 500 thousand euros. The new staff will also serve to make the interventions implemented with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan fully operational. Concerning: 59 territorial operations centers, 35 community hospitals, 131 community homes and 298 large pieces of equipment.
Minister Schillaci praises the Region
The Region’s plan also received the approval of the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci: “The over 8 thousand new hires in healthcare in Lazio – he explains – represent a further concrete sign of the Rocca administration’s attention to the health of citizens and healthcare personnel This measure adds to those already implemented which have reduced waiting lists in many services, strengthening the offer of regional recovery, and reducing patients’ waits in the emergency room for visits or hospitalization they go in the direction that I have shared with the Regions several times to strengthen public health. All this shows that if you plan adequately and spend the resources that the Government makes available well, the results will arrive.”
The reaction of the unions
According to the CGIL and the FP CGIL, whose representatives met Rocca on the afternoon of 7 May, the plan represents “a first step forward in the direction that we have indicated to the regional administration for over a year for a real relaunch of the regional health service and which is the result of trade union mobilization – explain Natale Di Cola (CGIL) and Giancarlo Cenciarelli (FP CGIL) -.
We welcome the fact that we will proceed with the hiring of over 1,600 units of nursing staff, using the existing competition of the ASL Roma 2 and more than 600 administrative staff from the rankings of the competitions already completed. Prevention technicians will also be among the professional figures that will be strengthened. Now it will be important that for the other announced hirings the local health authorities announce competitions as soon as possible.” The unions are now awaiting a discussion on other urgent issues concerning healthcare “starting from respect for waiting times for healthcare services and emergency rooms”.
