The funds intended for Sanitaservice healthcare workers who worked during the health emergency are released, as defined in the agreement signed between the Region and trade unions on 28 May 2020, when the methods for allocating the funds were indicated and a share of additional funding, equal to five million euros, which would have been recognized as compensation for extraordinary hardship also to other medical and non-medical health workers, not employees of the Regional Health Service, in service in the period between 15 March and 15 May, in full pandemic.
They were addressed to specialist doctors, Sanitaservice employees, operators of the territorial emergency system, 118 affiliated doctors and staff employed by the associations responsible for the 118 stations.
Only on 28 October 2021, the Puglia Region had launched an investigation at healthcare companies concerning the employees of the associations responsible for the 118 stations engaged in combating the Covid emergency in that period.
A year later, on 11 October 2022, in order to better identify the potential beneficiaries of the measure, a note was sent asking the general management of the companies involved to provide data relating to specialists involved in the emergency, to the staff of Sanitaservice, to the 118 affiliated doctors and to the staff of the associations that manage the 118 stations, filling in an excel table indicating the staff units, the shifts carried out in the relevant band with unit amount and any amounts paid.
On 13 December 2023, the Department for the Promotion of Animal Health and Welfare of the Puglia Region – net of what had already been paid to the affiliated doctors of the 118 service – assigned the sum of 843 thousand euros to the Foggia Local Health Authority.
Last May 2nd, the sole director of Sanitaservice requested the transfer of the assigned sums. General manager Antonio Nigri, in favor of the same in-house providing company, without further administrative action and after acquiring a debt note for the same amount – given that the Region has not yet credited the sum to the ASL Fg – authorized the liquidation of 612,448 .00 necessary for the payment of skills to eligible personnel.
