Chris Rock was offered a parody of Will Smith’s Slapstick for Netflix

Two years have passed since the 2022 Oscar Night, but the echo of the slap given by Will Smith to Chris Rock shows no sign of dying out: that sad episode will continue to be talked about for a long time to come, but the person who seems to want to avoid returning to the topic is, understandably, the person directly involved.

Chris Rock, who revealed that he went to therapy after Will Smith’s slap, would have in fact given up the opportunity to create a blatant parody of what happened at the Dolby Theater in Unfrostedthe new film with Jerry Seinfeld released on Netflix on May 3rd.

This was revealed by Seinfeld himself, who also motivated the comedian and actor’s refusal: “Chris Rock would play the host of the Bowl & Spoon Awards. We shot the movie shortly after Will Smith’s slap, and I wanted while Rock was on stage someone would come up and him chased him away by punching him. But Chris refused, he was still a bit in shock about what had happened. The scene, however, would have been that” were his words. That poor Chris didn’t feel like laughing and joking about the issue in the days immediately following, moreover, is more than understandable: who knows if in the future the comedian will want to make himself available for ideas similar to that Of Seinfeld!
