Paul Schrader Wants Kevin Spacey in Frank Sinatra Biopic! ‘But cancel culture…’

Leonardo DiCaprio will play Frank Sinatra in Martin Scorsese’s biopic and long-time collaborator Paul Schrader follows the director of Taxi Driver by proposing his own version of the film about one of the most beautiful voices in the history of music.

The director and screenwriter already has an idea about the protagonist, who would play an elderly Sinatra, and his thoughts turn to one of the actors with a controversial judicial past: Kevin Spacey. The actor was accused of sexually assaulting four men but, last July, he was acquitted and now it’s time for Spacey to start again. But Schrader is quite skeptical that cinema will give the House of Cards star a second chance: “Cancel culture won’t let him go – Schrader told Variety – he’s reading a book about how Charlie Chaplin was canceled.”

Spacey will return to the cinema with the Italian film The Contract and perhaps in his future there will also be a biopic on Frank Sinatra, the subject of many conversations between the two according to Paul Schrader: “I wouldn’t use Kevin if he was convicted. But he was not convicted“, underlined the director and screenwriter. We just have to wait for further developments while Spacey’s judicial story goes on television with the documentary Spacey Unmasked which collects the testimonies of men in the United States and the United Kingdom who span almost the entire career of Spacey actor, whose debut date in the United States is set for May 13.

On Top Gun: Maverick (Blu-ray) It is one of today’s best sellers.
