7 students in Turin for a cultural exchange

Seven students from the Luigi Pirandello school in Linosa at the Turin Book Fair for a cultural exchange.

Nicolas, sixth grade; Erika and Sofia from the second; Giuseppe, Valeria, Pietro and Davide from the third year, accompanied by the teacher Giusy Cavallaro, remained in the Piedmontese capital for two days to complete a program of visits to the Hall, the Egyptian museum and the readers’ club, on the occasion of the presentation of the novel “L ‘Island of Medusa” by Marco Marmeggi, inspired by the young students of the Pirandello institute.

“It is difficult – we read in a note from the Sanlorenzo philanthropic foundation which promoted the initiative – to imagine the impact and sensations felt in passing from an island with 400 inhabitants, a few bars, a few shops supplied once a week, only one school, a green and blue landscape at the foot of the volcano, to a metropolitan city like Turin with almost 900 thousand inhabitants, 350 thousand houses, long tree-lined streets and streets full of cars, shopping centres, the rich architectural offering and major cultural and sportsmen who attract over 2 million and 700 thousand tourists every year”.

The foundation was born in 2021 by Massimo Perotti and his children Cecilia and Cesare with the aim of “bridging the geographical gap that separates the smaller islands from the mainland, through actions and initiatives that intend to reduce the difficulties of those who live on the islands, create a positive impact for these communities, improve their quality of life and offer young people the best resources to build a more sustainable future”.
