Lamezia Terme – “From today, and for another four days, we will represent Calabria at the International Book Fair. We will talk about the culture of our land linked to history, art and archeology with a packed program of over 200 events including 85 meetings and with the presence of over 220 authors, publishers, journalists and institutional representatives. With our presence at this very important literary event, in which 41 publishing houses and 20 Calabrian authors will find space, we want to represent and convey the values of our land also to the new generations. This is why today we are inaugurating the stand of the Calabria Region by hosting the children of the Gino Strada school in Turin, who are our present but also, and above all, our hope. We deliver to the children of this important comprehensive institute, directed by Oscar Maroni, who virtually represent all Calabrian children, the present and future of our beautiful region.” This was said by Giusi Princi, vice-president of the Calabria Region, with responsibility for education and culture, at the inauguration ceremony of the XXXVI Edition of the International Book Fair, scheduled in Turin until May 13th, which recorded great participation and strong curiosities at the stand of the Calabria Region. The pavilion of over 200 square meters will host the public reception corners, a large meeting space, the bookshop in which each publishing house will have an adequate personalized space, the corner for listening to audio books, a relaxation area, video walls on where you can follow the meetings live and view short videos produced by the publishing houses.

A stand with a stylistic concept that lets blue predominate (the institutional color of the Region) alternating with other warm and intense colors representative of Calabria. The event opened with the presentation of Pier Vincenzo Gigliotti’s book “Summer Air” (La Rondine Edizioni). “The Calabria Region – vice-president Princi also highlighted – is a candidate to once again be the protagonist of the Show, even surpassing the already flattering numbers of the last edition. Let’s explore the enchantment of Calabria. The Region’s participation in the Turin Motor Show is a presence consolidated over time which makes Calabria one of the main protagonists among institutional presences. I want to thank all those who, together with me and the president Roberto Occhiuto, contributed to making all this happen with the belief that Culture plays a fundamental role in the government program of the Regional Council and with the aim of all contributing together to offering a ‘new image of Calabria on the national and international scene’.
