“Woman in the work of Tino Barresi and Filippo Nasello”

On Saturday 4 May, at Palazzo Vigo in Torre Archirafi, the event “The woman in the work of Tino Barresi and Filippo Nasello” took place, which was followed by an exhibition of the two painters set up in the premises of the same Palace and accessible to the public until May 11, 2024.

Sponsored by the Municipality of Riposto, the initiative was chosen by Maestro Di Pino to be part of his “Ripostese Cultural Spring”, and was curated by the associations “Il Cantastorie” and “Passeggiata Literaria Ripostese”.

The idea of paying homage to the two living painters, however, was conceived by Professor Maria Caserta, moderator of the evening together with Professor Alfina Spinella, president of the Literary Walk. A video created by Carmen Russo was dedicated to the work of the two artists and screened in the room, while the art historian, Carmen Bellalba, had a pleasant dialogue with Barresi and Nasello. During the evening, maestro Luigi Di Pino performed by interpreting some traditional Sicilian folk songs and reciting, together with the actor Gianfilippo Tomaselli, the famous duet “Chi cosa è la donna” by Orazio Strano and Turiddu Bella.

The public has shown that it greatly appreciates the novelty of a comparison/homage between two very different artists in terms of pictorial style and personality, contained in the musical framework of maestro Di Pino, while the desire to enhance local painting by paying homage to the artists who are still alive is one of the commitments undertaken by the cultural operators present at the event.
